SERVICES FROM RHYTHM MAKER

Workshops for Schools and Communites
Our workshops are designed to introduce participants to African and Brazilian drumming. They will focus on ensemble music making whilst allowing each individual to express his/her own musicality. The participants will learn to play a variety of percussion instruments and rhythms developing their musical and cultural knowledge, confidence, self-esteem and team spirit. We offer a variety of workshops including West African Drumming, Brazilian percussion, Afro-Brazilian percussion and body percussion. We will provide instruments but any school or community instruments available would be very helpful.

We offer one off workshops, residencies, after school clubs and community workshops. As our workshops are tailored to your needs please contact us for a brochure or more information, availability, costs etc.

Kamben Silo Drumming School
The workshops are designed for those with or without previous experience and will explore the rhythms of West Africa whilst introducing basic drumming techniques. As the group progresses participants will be taught individual parts for each rhythm which can be played together to create and ensemble. We will focus on the relationship between the dun dun (bass drum), rhythm djembe and solo drum, enabling us to understand the language of the drums.

Workshops are available throughout the year and are divided into beginners and advanced levels. Each course runs for six weeks but participants are welcome to attend as many sessions as they wish in order to progress further. Places are limited so please book early. Instruments will be provided but please bring your drum if you have one.

Private tuition
Jahman also offers private tuition in djembe and dun duns for those with or without previous experience. You can bring a drum if you have one or Jahman can provide you with duns or djembes for the lesson. If you would like to arrange a lesson please contact Jahman for more information.
